Important Annoucement

To all Kapiti Coast United Members

Our Management Committee are delighted that Mark Tooman and The Village Inn have come on board as a major partner of KCU.

Nowadays as a club I find it is becoming increasingly difficult to align ourselves with businesses that have similar synergies and value’s as our own. There is a fine balance between accepting or declining sponsorship opportunities with businesses that do not fit with our value’s. This is a tough decision as we need this sponsorship to survive and you struggle at times to turn this business away.

In some cases I have been questioned on why we have rejected an offer for a potential sponsor!

As an example if we had two club member’s who worked for two fierce competitor’s (Coke & Pepsi) and they wanted their business to sponsor the club or a team – who do we take, one, both or none of them? They fit the profile of the club but we may not want other brands over powering our own image Kapiti Coast United Sports Club, as this to, the name has it’s own brand identity & value.

I ask you all that your involvement in the club’s future we insure that the club aligns itself with value’s of Sport, Health and the Kapiti community and above all that we are not diminishing our image by taking on sponsorship based on money or products alone.

Hence our alignment with Mark and the Village Inn, he understands that his business play’s a large part also in the Community and as such saw the opportunity to get alongside KCU with it’s Junior and Senior membership base.

He too has competition in the area and the Monteiths Kapiti Junction were also keen to come on board. The decision was not made lightly we could not have two main competitor’s within the club and we did not want to be seen as openly advertising (especially to our youth) a Company whose business is largely associated with alcohol. However Mark’s understanding of our issues and the VI’s location to our club were a major factor in the VI’s involvement with KCU.

To all people who have been involved in the process of bringing this together Thank you.

I ask that you support the Village Inn’s restaurant and bar should the opportunity arise and please get on-board with their loyalty card.
