Introduction to Youth Football

At KCU we are committed to the NZF framework to provide football for all youth players, regardless of their ability, with high quality experiences in order to retain them in or attract them to the game. As a Community Football Club we strive to provide coaching through appropriately qualified coaches in an inexpensive but professional, safe and fun environment.

Youth Football consists of 2-3 training sessions during the week and 11 a-side games at the weekend on full size pitches; teams will ideally contain 15 players.- Under 17’s play 2x 45 min Halves with a Size 5 Football- Under 15’s play 2x 35 min Halves with a Size 5 Football- Under 13’s play 2x 30 min Halves with a Size 4 Football

Parents are asked to support and assist the coaches where possible, especially for the home games where we are expected to provide nets and corner flags on the pitches. Ideally each team will have a Team Manager, to assist the coaching teams with communications and organisation. There will be some traveling involved to and from the away games, therefore parents of players will be expected to provide transport and car sharing is promoted.

Players for Youth teams will be representing KCU and they are expected to behave responsibly both on and off the field as they will be ambassadors for the club. We ask for the following core values from all players:

  • We always give 100%.
  • We arrive punctually on a match day with a good positive attitude.
  • We’re respectful to the opposition, referee, coaches & parents.
  • But, most of all each other. Be supportive of teammates.

Covid Information

From New Zealand Football: The COVID-19 Protection Framework (CPF) allows football and futsal to take place at all stages, with different restrictions at the Red, Orange, and Green settings to make sure it is the safest possible environment for all participants.

All community football and futsal competitions, matches and trainings are classified as Gatherings and need to follow the Government’s rules for Gatherings.

New Zealand Football, with the federations, has developed the following guidance for football and futsal should operate at all levels of the Covid-19 Protection Framework. This Guidance is reviewed regularly to ensure that it remains consistent with any updates to the COVID-19 Protection Framework and Sport NZ guidelines.
